Seorang manajer harus tanggap terhadap lingkungannya karena lingkungan baik internal maupun eksternal sangat berpengaruh terhadap keputusan dan tindakan-tindakan yang akan dilakukan oleh manajer, untuk itu seorang manajer harus mempunyai rasa tanggung jawab yang bersifat sosial. Oleh karena sifat inilah maka seseorang manajer harus tanggap terhadap gejolak lingkungan yang berada disekitarnya, terutama sekali lingkungan yang bersifat eksternal baik mikro maupun makro. Lingkungan eksternal ini tidak daoat diperkirakan dan diketahui sebelumnya kapan terjadi. Sebagai contoh tentang kenaikan bahan bakar minyak dan kenaikan tarif listrik ini tidak bisa diramalkan sebelumnya oleh seorang manajer kapan akan diputuskan tapi gejala-gejala tentang hal tersebut dapat diramalkan terlebih dahulu, contoh lagi tentang prilaku konsumen, langganan, supplier, teknologi dan sebagainya. Karena seorang manajer harus tanggap dan adaptatif serta selalu mengikuti dan menyesuaikan dengan lingkungannya. Untuk itulah perlu diadakan pendekatan guna menjaga dan menyeimbangkan agar orang dapat tetap berjalan dalam lingkungan yang selalu berubah-ubah.

A manager should be responsive to the environment due to both internal and external environment influence on decisions and actions to be taken by the manager, for that a manager should have a sense of responsibility that are social. Because of this nature then one manager must be responsive to the environmental upheavals that are around, especially once the external environment are both micro and macro. The external environment is unpredictable and know in advance when it happen. As an example of the rise in fuel and electricity tariff increases can not be predict beforehand by a manager when it will be decide but the symptoms of these things can be predict in advance, another example of consumer behavior, customer, supplier, technology and so on. Because a manager must be responsive and adaptative and always follow and adapt to their environment. For that approach should be hold in order to maintain and balance so that people can keep running in an environment that.
